Luke & Phoebe | Rose & Smith
Luke and Phoebe were married at Rose & Smith in Featherston, Wairarapa, on a rainy day in January. When Phoebe first got in touch she said things like ‘We are looking for a photographer to capture our day shooting 35mm film.’ and ‘We don't want any posed group shots with the wedding party as we love the vibe of more documentary-style photography.’ Which made me squeal in delight. They wanted their day to be chilled, laid back, & focused on friends and family. They created this so purposefully by getting ready together, moving slowly through the day, taking lots of time with their guests, and only keeping in traditional elements that held meaning for them. Family photos were taken on 120 medium format film, 1 frame of each group, very deliberately making it count. Their short couple shoot was on a mix of film stocks and cameras. It rained the whole day and I honestly can’t think of a better venue than Rose & Smith for this to not matter, the indoor spaces are roomy, and there is a multitude of great covered areas for photos around the racecourse.
Shot on a mix of Film and Digital. I was like a duck swimming, calm on the surface gliding around, legs/my brain going a million miles. Juggling 5 cameras, 2 flashes, thinking of the best one for the scenes in front of me and what film stock was in the camera.
“Everyone has been absolutely gushing over our wedding photos, we’re so in love with them. Thank you again for the incredible job you did.” Phoebe
Phoebe looked stunning in a Vivienne Westwood gown and necklace. And made all the ceramic vases herself.
